Rainwater that falls on any hard surface must be discharged into the ground or the mains drainage system. This poses the risk of environmental contamination from hydrocarbons such as engine oil. Potential risk surfaces include petrol forecourts, car parks, roadways, vehicle maintenance areas and more. Contamination from these areas can have enormous impact on the environment.
Pollution prevention is a critical part of drainage systems and statutory regulations are in force to control the discharge of hydrocarbons, with severe penalties imposed for non-compliance. Adare Biocare offers a proven range of separator and alarm systems for installation on surface water drainage systems and are designed to prevent these hydrocarbons (e.g. diesel, petrol, engine oil) from mixing with surface water and entering the environment.
All of our stormwater management products and stormwater solutions ensure the utmost in safety and are fully compliant with Environment agency guidelines. The type of separator used is determined by the severity of a possible contamination event.
Bypass Separators
The Adare Biocare range of Conder Bypass Separators are used when it is deemed an acceptable risk to not provide full treatment for high flows, for example where only small spillages occur and the risk of spillage is small.
They are designed to treat the first 10% of flow generated by rainfall (6.5mm/hr), and separate Hydrocarbons from this initial flow where the Hydrocarbon content is at its highest. Once the flow increases above 6.5mm/hr, and the hydrocarbon content is lower, the water bypasses the separator to a local drainage field or a mains drainage network.
Full Retention Separators
Adare Biocare’s range of Full Retention Separators are designed to treat the full flow that can be delivered by a drainage system, which is normally equivalent to the flow generated by a rainfall intensity of 65mm/hr. Full Retention Separators are used where there is a risk of regular contamination with oil and a foreseeable risk of significant spillages.
Forecourt Separators & Petrol Interceptors
Adare Biocare Forecourt Separators are designed for specific use in petrol filling stations and similar applications. The size of this separator has been specifically increased to retain the possible loss of contents from one compartment of a fuel delivery road tanker, which could be up to 7,600 litres. Forecourt separators are an essential infrastructure requirement for all forecourts so as to ensure compliance with both health, safety and environmental legislation.
Stormwater Attenuation Tanks
We offer a wide range of tank sizes designed to meet all project requirements and storm-water solutions. Combine this with full technical assistance and you’re assured that your attenuation system meets predicted storm water capacity. All our systems come with resin rich interior walls that provide a durable, chemical and corrosion resistant surface with excellent flow characteristics.
Choices to enhance your attenuation system include a range of load bearing and non-load bearing interior partitions. A choice of access shafts to fit height specifications, a selection of inlet and outlet connections to required size and angulation as well as a range of pumps to elevate storm water to the local mains system.
Wash Down and Silt Separators
Wash Down Separators and Silt Traps from Adare Biocare are designed to remove silt. They are used in areas such as car washes, pressure wash facilities or other cleaning facilities and must be discharged to the foul water drainage system.
